I don't really know how to put into words my excitement over being chosen as The Best Georgia Gardening Blog of 2009 from Blotanical but I can tell you between that and seeing the first bloom on my Confederate Rose this morning I am one very excited girl.
Confederate Rose ~ Hibiscus mutabilis
The flowers open pure white and change color over a three-day period until they are deep pink and then as they die assume a dark "blue-pink" hue. The most notable characteristic of this flowering shrub is that flowers of three distinct colors appear on the bush simultaneously as the blooms color cycle independent of one another.
Blotanical is a very special community of people that love gardening, love talking about gardening, love showing off not only their gardens but also their neighborhoods, towns and travels. When I was excepted in to this special community March of 2008 I knew I had stepped right into something great. It is growing by leaps and bounds everyday. There is always something new to see and someone ready to leave a kind word or to help you. There are gardeners from all over the world sharing their day with us. When I am shivering with cold others are showing of their beautiful summer flowers.
I have met some very special people through Blotanical I would like to say thank you to Stuart Robinson from Western Australia for creating this wonderful community and letting me be apart of it. Thank you for all the time away from your own garden while you are continuing to make Blotanical special.
I would also like to say thank you to Miss Lois for passing on her love of gardening to me .. even though I will never forgive you for embarrassing me in front of my very first date! She made him unload a truck load of manure before he could take me out .
I would also like to thank my niece Jessica who encouraged me to make my blog public ~ ya'll were never suppose to see all this !! To my girlfriends that have carried me through the hardest year ever ~ I love ya'll ! I could go on and on for I am a southern girl and we do love to talk .. and since this is my big hurrah' ... but I will close now with one Giant thank you to everyone for your wonderful comments, for thinking my blog is special enough too not only honor me with this award but worthy of your continued visits even when it's all about babies....
hugs ya'll, Cherry

ReplyDeleteLove these photos, Cherry! And I couldn't be happier for you on the award...great big hug and a high 5!
ReplyDeleteA great big southern hug to you, Cherry for this fine win! The hibiscus is a beauty too. How funny about the first date shoveling manure! We used to have a test for our daughter Semi's boyfriends of whether they could dig a hole! A good use of manpower when there was a large specimen that needed planting. We sure are glad you made your blog public, too. :-)
