Daylilies, Butterfly and a Copperhead ... things the rain brought us !

The rain has stopped the sun is shining and the daylily's are starting to show off. I wish I could tell ya'll the names of each of these but I can't over the years I did not keep track but what I can tell ya'll is most of them came from a local grower Joiners Daylily Gardens which is one of my favorite places and I really need to go visit before it's to late ..

The sun is on fire in the sky and in its warmth flowers open in the gardens and the butterfly flutters by .... Stanley Cook

and then this guy stopped by on Saturday afternoon to hang out with us on the deck .. I don't do snakes I have been high stepping with my eyes wide open ever since my hubby found him laying by the outside stereo guess he is a Rock and Roller cause Bob Seger was doing some Old Time Rock and Roll and he didn't seem to mind at all ... lol

hope everyone is having a fun Monday opps Tuesday !
hugs, Cherry

  2. Yikes! I don't do snakes either. I think seeing a copperhead might just cure me from ever gardening or even going outdoors again!

Beautiful butterflies! I've already sen one black swallowtail briefly flutter by, but it didn't stay.

  3. Snakes - NO - I don't do snakes well. I'm afraid if I see one I may quit gardening. Just kidding but man keep them away from me.
Your daylilies look so nice. Have a good snake free day. Becca

  4. I dont mind snakes, so long as they dont mind me!

The Hemerocallis are glorious, such a wonderful selection of colour and form. I have a few too, but they wont be out for at least a month!

  5. Wow Cherry I hope you never come to close to a snake like that ever, I don't know all the names of the lilies you have but that redish color one sure looks like "Pardon Me" Day Lily, just like the one I have. The Butterflies are beautiful!

  6. Scary! I don't do snakes either. I don't care if they are hot pink with purple polka dots

  7. Your Daylilies are beautiful and what a nice selection you have.
What is the pretty pink flower the butterfly landed on?
Ewwwwww I agree with some of the others I think if we had snakes here I'd probably lock myself inside and never come out.
    Stay safe from snakes Cherry!

  8. Yikes!

I got scared when we had a black garden snake in the yard - we'd need to call 911 if I saw that on the patio :o

  10. Yikes a copperhead...We have rattlesnakes here. Had one on my GP's porch on Friday. Needless to say he met his demise. Rattlesnakes and pets/people don't mix well!
The heat brings them out of hiding and looking to cool off. Your deck was probably a nice place to cool down and listen to some tunes. Did you offer him a cold drink?(-:

  15. Lovely collage...lovely lilies! It's always a joy to have butterflies, and you took some great photos Cherry;-) As for the copperhead...I would be in longterm garden avoidance, or be wearing a suit of metal armour. Snakes such as garden snakes don't bother me (unless they are right next to me!) but Copperheads are another story altogether. I hope he can be contained and released far, far away, or else, eliminated right on the spot!

  16. Daylilies are beauties!

There's no snake worse than a Copperhead! They strike without warning and are just mean. Even a rattlesnake will give you a warning.

Okay, I feel better about finding "just" a 4 foot rat snake in my garden the other day! At least they're non-poisonous and they dine on mice, voles and rabbits.

    Watch where you step!

  20. WOW! What a wonderful variety of daylilies. I sooo identify with not remembering the names - ALAS my weakness in addition to not having the memory is not writing things down to compensate.
